Word A Round by Thinkfun
Ages 10+
2+ players
The goal of Word A Round is to be the first to say the circular word on the card to win it. First player to ten cards wins!
This game is fast paced and so fun! My friends and I usually play until the deck is finished instead of the ‘first one to ten’ rule. Either way, this game is an entertaining one that you can play over and over again!
Scattergories by Winning Moves
Ages 12+
2-6 players
(The game says 12+ but I’ve been playing this since I was 10, so I’m not sure how accurate their age range is.) Quick! Name all twelve items on the list starting with the SAME letter before the timer runs out! The one with the most points at the end of the game wins! This is one of the most-played games in my house. It’s quick, fun, and easily adjustable for all ages!

Shout out a word that meets all three criteria to win the card. (For example, a word that’s associated with vacations + has an even number of letters + contains the letter H = hotels!) the first player to 5 cards wins! I think that this is one of the more challenging games on this page but it’s still super fun. Each round plays in about fifteen minutes, so this is a great game if you only have a bit of time to play.
Word Roll by MerriMax
Ages 10+

The goal of Word Roll is to make a word with the highest point count with three rolls of the dice before the timer runs out! This is probably the most adaptable game on this page. You can play using timed or untimed rounds, and single player or team play! If you or your family love dice games, then you should definitely check this one out. <3
A Little Wordy by
Exploding Kittens
Ages 10+
2 players
Get a little wordy with this feather flapping two-player game! The goal is to come up with a Secret Word that will win more berry tokens than the other player’s word. I love that there’s regular cards and then spicy cards to make the game high-stakes. My friends and I have so much fun playing this one together! The box is pretty compact, so this is a perfect game to take travelling with you!
Blank Slate by USAOPOLY
Ages 8+
3-8 players
Blank Slate is essentially a reverse game of Scattergories, where instead of thinking of a unique word, you want to write the same word as as many other players as possible. Each card has a word on it and a blank space. Each player thinks of a word to fill in the blank. (For example, ____house - ‘dog’ would fit in the blank space.) The more people that wrote the same word as you, the more points you get!
Scrabble by Hasbro Gaming
Ages 8+
2-4 players
I’m pretty sure everyone has played Scrabble before, so I’m not going to explain too much about it, besides that it’s a jumbo-sized make-your-own crossword puzzle. What I AM going to do, though, is leave you with links to different versions of Scrabble. The same classic game with different twists! There’s a version for everybody, whether you like Harry Potter or Disney characters or National Parks!

Upwords by
Spin Master Games
Ages 8+
1+ players
Have you ever said “If that ‘o’ was an ‘e,’ I could make a word!” while playing Scrabble? If so, then Upwords has the solution to your conundrum! Upwords is like Scrabble but you can STACK the tiles! So pig could become wig which could become fog, log, dog, and so on! Upwords even comes with a spinning game board. No more tilting your neck or playing upside down!
Boggle by Hasbro Gaming

Shake up the dice inside the game board, flip the timer, and race against the clock to make as many words as you can in ninety seconds! My dad and I love playing this game - it’s fun to see which words we come up with. I love how this game can be modified to play by yourself or with a group. It’s also tiny enough to stow in a backpack when travelling!
