Father’s Day Books
Every year for Father’s Day I gift my dad a picture book. It’s a tradition my mom and I started when I was little and is
still going strong today. Here are the books I’ve gifted him over the years!
You can purchase them from either Amazon or Bookshop.org, which supports independent bookstores!
Make sure to read my reviews to know the plot before you buy!
I do make a small commission from the books on this page, at no additional cost to you!
The Night Before Father’s Day by Natasha Wing and Amy Wummer
“‘Twas the night before Father’s Day. and while dad rode his bike, we raced to the garage - Mom, me and Mike.” Join this family as they get ready for Father’s Day in this fun rhyming book!
Natasha Wing’s ‘Night Before’ series is a go-to of mine for any holiday. There are over forty books in the series, covering any holiday from Valentine’s Day to Christmas and everywhere in between.
I Love My Daddy by Sebastien Braun
This simple story takes you and your little one along with two bears (a father and his cub) as they have fun in the forest!
The illustrations are absolutely GORGEOUS. I had forgotten how much I loved them until I flipped through the book just now, haha! You can truly see the love between the bears in the pictures <3
Dad By My Side by Soosh
This book is the most special one to me on this page. The illustrations are so stinkin’ sweet! You can feel the connection between the characters come through the pages
The story structure is simple enough for little ones but holds enough meaning to be a great read for more independent readers. Dad By My Side beautifully depicts the relationship between a dad and daughter and how they help each other through the happy and sad times <3
I Love You Always and Forever by Jonathan Emmett and Daniel Howarth
This cute story follows two mice, Littletail and Longtail, as they play hide-and-seek in the forest.
I picked this one up at a used book sale and I’m so happy that I did because it’s adorable! The texture in the pictures from the colored pencil is amazing!
(I’ve linked the version of this book for sons down below in the ‘more favorites’ section)
365 Dad Jokes by Samantha A. Trefel
Get ready to give the gift of laughter this Father’s Day! There’s a dad joke in here for every day of the year, be careful! Mom might roll her eyes!

Exceptionally Bad Dad Jokes Vol II
My dad and I were so happy when we found out that there was a second volume of this series!
“Some old chap knocked on my door earlier asking for small donations to keep the local swimming pool open. I was more than happy to help out, so I gave him a glass of water.”
Daddies are for Catching Fireflies by Harriet Zeifert and Cynthia Jabar
This fun lift-the-flap story tells you all the things a daddy can do, like answer questions, take you swimming, and read you stories!
This is one of the first (if not the first) book I got my dad. The lift-the-flaps make it engaging for kids as they look at the pictures and read the sweet story. There’s also a book about mommies by the same author, if you’re looking for a gift for mom too <3
Daddy Hugs by Karen Katz
Join Baby and Daddy as they get ready for bed in this cute counting story!.
Karen Katz books are a MUST if you have a little one. Her whimiscal (and adorable!) illustrations convey the story beautifully <3
I had SO many of her books as a tiny tot. This is the one that lasted with me through the years!
All the Little Fathers by Margaret Wise Brown and Marilyn Faucher
All the little fathers are spending time with their children in different ways, whether they’re purring, hopping, or roaring. Join them in this cute book!
This is a great bedtime read to calm down at the end of the day. Or, on the flip side, encourage your little one to roar and hop along with the animal friends in the story!
Why A Daughter Needs a Dad by Gregory E. Lang and Sydney Hanson
This one is made perfectly for a dad to read to his daughter! Each animal helps to describe the encouraging and loving relationship that dads and their daughters have <3
These ILLUSTRATIONS?! Cutest on the page, for sure! The soft coloring and precious animals make it a favorite for many!

Join two bears as they romp around the woods and the surrounding area! They’ll dance in the rain, visit birds’ nests, and more!
This book is similar to I Love My Daddy that I linked a couple rows up, but they definitely have their differences. If your little one loves bears then they would make a great gift pair!
